在7日的外交部例行记者会上，发言人华春莹在回答相关提问时回应称，希望美国人民能尽快享有和平、稳定和安全，她同时敦促人们深思，为何美国一些人士与媒体对2019年香港修例风波中的暴力行为给予了完全不同的评价。

在记者会上，她还说了一段“贯口”来回应：

“我也注意到社交媒体上流传着一句调侃：‘如果美国看到美国正在对美国做的事，美国肯定会谴责美国，并鼓动解放美国’。蓬佩奥先生是不是应该考虑一下如何制裁自己？”
